TangoAires Liverpool

Welcome to the website of TangoAires, Liverpool’s Argentine tango club.

We are a community based, not-for-profit, volunteer run organisation holding classes and events throughout the year, all to promote the dance and culture of Argentine tango. Our experienced teacher has a deep understanding of fundamental tango technique as well as an open mind to the various tango styles and approaches to learning.  This way we hope our Liverpool Tango club does not restrict our students and inspires more people to explore this vibrant dance form.

We hold weekly group classes on Tuesday nights near Sefton Park in Liverpool. We also offer private classes and are open to bespoke events.

We warmly invite you to come and be part of our Liverpool Tango Community.

Happy dancing!

Classes

Argentine tango is a social dance and our aim is to teach people to be good leaders and followers.  This way you can join any tango event and dance with people from different classes and continents! To encourage good leading and following we rotate partners. We don’t force this issue, but encourage it as part of our teaching methodology.  All classes take place in a relaxed atmosphere and people of all ages  are welcome.

Venue

Unitarian Church, 57 Ullet Rd, Liverpool L17 2AA.

FAQs

  • Shoes: ladies tango shoes traditionally have a stiletto heel, but any heeled or flat shoe is useful for dancing in, as long as you are comfortable. Shoes with too much grip can make it difficult to dance so try not to wear something with a thick rubber sole.
  • Clothing: wear anything you feel comfortable in, but for women restrictive skirts are not advisable as your legs need free movement.
  • Do I need to bring a partner?: No, in fact many people do come along on their own. We’re a friendly bunch!
  • Can I come at any point in term? Does it matter if I have no dance experience?: No, feel free to arrive at any point in the the term and we can cater for complete beginners.
